This Privacy Policy explains how Rankly Inc. ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our services, including:

By using our services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account on either the Rankly platform or to save extension reports, we collect:
- Email Address: Used to identify your account and for communications
- Name: Your first and last name (optional)
- Company Name: Your organization name (optional)
- Authentication Data: If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account ID and profile information
Rankly Platform (app.tryrankly.com)
When you use our AEO analytics platform, we collect:
Website Analysis Data:
- URLs: Website URLs you submit for analysis
- Brand Context: Your brand name, industry, and value propositions
- Website Content: Publicly available content scraped from URLs you submit
- Topics & Personas: The search topics and user personas you select for analysis
- Competitors: Competitor brands you choose to track
AI Analysis Data:
- Generated Prompts: AI-generated search queries used to test your brand visibility
- LLM Responses: Full responses from AI models (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, Poe)
- Visibility Metrics: Calculated scores including brand mentions, positioning, sentiment, and citations
- Citation Data: URLs and sources referenced in AI responses
Usage & Billing Data:
- API Usage: Token counts, response times, and associated costs for AI API calls
- Subscription Status: Your plan tier and billing cycle
- Payment Information: Processed securely by Stripe; we do not store your credit card details
Query Fanouts Chrome Extension
The Query Fanouts extension captures the following data when you actively choose to start a capture session on ChatGPT:
- Search Queries: The search queries that ChatGPT generates when performing web searches
- Citations: URLs and metadata of sources that ChatGPT references
- Product Data: Product information when ChatGPT displays shopping recommendations
- Search Context: Geographic location context (UULE codes) and language settings
Important: We do not capture your personal prompts or the content of your conversations with ChatGPT. We only capture the search queries that ChatGPT generates internally.
Google Analytics Integration
Rankly offers an optional integration that lets you connect your own Google Analytics 4 (GA4) property so that traffic data can be displayed inside your Rankly dashboard, broken down by AI platform referrers (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, and similar). Connecting GA4 is entirely opt-in and can be revoked at any time.
OAuth Scopes Requested
When you connect Google Analytics, Rankly requests the following OAuth scopes via Google's standard consent screen:
- https://www.googleapis.com/auth/analytics.readonly - Read-only access to your GA4 property metadata and reports. Rankly cannot modify, delete, or write any data to your Google Analytics account.
- https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.email - Your primary Google Account email, used to identify your Rankly account.
- https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.profile - Your basic Google profile information (name, profile picture), used solely to personalize the Rankly interface.
Google API Services User Data Policy
Rankly's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Limited Use Commitments
With respect to data obtained via the analytics.readonly, userinfo.email, and userinfo.profile scopes:
- We use this data solely to provide and improve user-facing features of the Rankly platform - specifically, to display your own Google Analytics traffic data inside your authenticated Rankly dashboard.
- We do not transfer this data to others, except as necessary to provide or improve user-facing features, comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets with prior notice to affected users.
- We do not use or transfer this data for serving advertisements, including retargeting, personalized, or interest-based advertising.
- We do not allow humans to read this data, except: (a) with your affirmative consent for specific individual records; (b) where necessary for security purposes, such as investigating a bug or abuse; (c) to comply with applicable law; or (d) where the data has been aggregated and anonymized and is used for internal operations.
Data Retrieved from GA4
When you authorize the integration, Rankly reads standard GA4 metrics including sessions, page views, user counts, engagement rates, traffic sources and referrers, geographic and device summaries, and conversion events for the property you select. This data is processed to classify traffic by AI platform referrer and to compute aggregated reports that are displayed only to you, the authenticated account owner. We do not access GA4 properties you have not explicitly selected during OAuth consent.
Token Storage and Security
Access and refresh tokens issued under Google OAuth are stored encrypted at rest on Rankly's infrastructure and are used only on your behalf to query the GA4 properties you have authorized. Tokens are never exposed in client-side code. Upon disconnection, tokens are immediately revoked with Google and permanently deleted from our systems, along with any cached GA4 data.
Revoking Access
You may revoke Rankly's access to your Google Analytics data at any time, in either of two ways:
- From within the Rankly dashboard, by clicking Settings → Disconnect Google Analytics on the Traffic Analytics page.
- Directly via your Google Account at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions, by selecting Rankly and clicking "Remove access".
Either action immediately revokes Rankly's tokens with Google and triggers permanent deletion of all cached GA4 data associated with your account.
How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- To provide and operate our analytics services
- To analyze your brand's visibility across AI search engines
- To generate insights, recommendations, and actionable reports
- To display captured data in dashboards and reports
- To save and retrieve your analysis history
- To provide export functionality (CSV/JSON downloads)
- To process payments and manage subscriptions
- To communicate with you about your account and our services
- To improve our services and understand usage patterns
Data Storage
Local Storage (Extension Only)
For the Chrome extension, captured data is initially stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API. This data remains on your device until you choose to clear it or close the capture session.
Server Storage
Platform data and saved extension reports are stored on our secure servers using MongoDB Atlas, hosted on reputable cloud infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate our platform:
- AI/LLM Providers: OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), Google (Gemini), Perplexity, xAI (Grok), and Poe
- OpenRouter: API gateway for accessing multiple LLM providers
- Stripe: Payment processing (we do not store your payment card details)
- Google OAuth: For sign-in and Google Analytics integration
- MongoDB Atlas: Database hosting
- SendGrid: Email communications
Each of these providers has their own privacy policies governing their handling of data.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or transfer your personal information to third parties.
We may share data only in the following circumstances:
- With service providers who assist in operating our infrastructure, under strict confidentiality agreements
- With AI providers to process your analysis requests
- If required by law or to protect our legal rights
- In aggregated, anonymized form for research or statistical purposes
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest, secure authentication, and regular security reviews. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention
We retain your data as follows:
- Account Data: Retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period after deletion
- Analysis Data: Retained while your account is active to provide historical tracking
- Extension Data (local): Stored only in your browser until you clear it
- Extension Reports (saved): Retained while your account is active
Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access: Request a copy of the data we have about you
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
- Portability: Export your data using our CSV/JSON export features
- Withdraw Consent: Disconnect third-party integrations at any time

Children's Privacy
